DAY 10

The book of Genesis reveals at the creation of mankind, an amazing relationship between God and man. Each day, God would come and commune with Adam and Eve in a garden He had prepared for them. Understand, God had no physical body that Adam could see or point to and say that God was with him, instead Adam and Eve heard the “Voice of God” that entered into the garden to walk with them. They were led by, and communed with, the voice of God. (Gen 3:8)

To imagine that the voice of the eternal God, that created all things simply by the opening of His mouth and the words He declared, is with us right now.

There are countless biblical stories of men and women that have heard the voice of the Lord. It changed the course of their life, and even their generation. His voice empowered them and united them. It brought purpose, and even broke the chains of bondage off of them. This is still true today.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me. And I give unto them  eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my  hand.” John 10:27

One of my favorite stories about hearing the voice of the Lord is found in the book of  Samuel. Samuel was dedicated to the Lord as a child, he served daily in the house of  the Lord, but he had never heard the voice of his God. Until one day the Lord woke him with His voice and gave him a word and called him to be a prophet.

Like Samuel, it is possible to go through the motions of our daily routine, even endeavoring to serve God, without hearing from God.

Question:

- Do you know God‘s voice?

Practical Application:

- LISTEN: Too often when we go to pray, we spend much of that time speaking  and not listening. Today when you go to pray spend as much time listening and  meditating on the word as you do speaking to God. How will we hear from the  Lord if we do not take time to let him speak into our life?

- WRITE DOWN: When you go to prayer always take the word of the Lord (Bible),  a pen or pencil, and paper. If something comes upon your heart or direction is  given from the Lord, you can write it down. Note: God will speak as an  impression in your heart, thoughts or out of His word. I would say most  Christians have never heard an audible voice of the Lord.

- JUDGE: God will NEVER contradict His word (Holy Bible). If you hear  something in your heart and it does not line up to the word of God, it is not  God!

Scriptures:

John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me. And I give  unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them  out of my hand.”

Hebrews 3:15 “While it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts,  as in the provocation.”
